Kitesurfing in Biscarrosse

During their vacations, many French people take part in water sports. Kiteboarding is one of the most popular, offering a whole new range of sensations. This water sport appeals to many adults, but also to the very young. Situated between forests, lakes and beaches, Biscarrosse offers numerous kitesurfing spots and school coaching sessions for your enjoyment at the height of the season.

The different kitesurfing spots in Biscarrosse

In Biscarrosse, all kitesurfing areas are subject to regulations. Not all Biscarrosse beaches are authorized for kitesurfing. Authorized areas include the ocean, lakes and lagoons. At the center of these numerous beaches, La Rive is a great place to go kitesurfing. So it makes sense to know everything there is to know about kites.

The south beach at Biscarrosse

This kitesurfing spot is typically marine. This is a part of the Mediterranean where the wind is predominantly southerly. In summer, the water temperature is ideal for water sports, ranging from 18°C to 21°C. Winter temperatures do not exceed 12°C. The beach has a launch area, with instructors on hand at times to teach you how to kitesurf. To make the most of it, drop your bags at La Rive campsite, 18 km from the beach.

Navarrosse

This kitesurfing spot in Biscarrosse is on a lake with a north-facing wind. The water is fairly calm and its summer temperature varies between 18°C and 21°C. In winter, the water temperature is : 11 °C – 12 °C. Navarrosse offers a school with a pedestrian zone. Kitesurfing is prohibited in summer. From La Rive, you’ll pass through the town of Biscarrosse to get there.

Ispe

The Ispe kitesurfing spot is a lake with one of the best easterly winds. In summer, the temperature is : 22 °C – 25 °C. Winter is cooler, with temperatures ranging from 8°C to 10°C. For kitesurfing at Ispe, there’s a launch area and a pedal zone. Winds are often gusty. So don’t venture out if you’re not used to kitesurfing. To get to Ispe from camping La Rive, you’ll have to pass through the town of Biscarrosse and the Port Maguide, an excellent walk.

Lake of Biscarrosse and Parentis

The lake has a surface area of 3,400 hectares and is appreciated for its peacefulness. Fishing and sailing are also practiced here. From simple walks in the forest to sailing, canoeing, parasailing, water skiing, diving and fishing, there are a thousand and one ways to discover the flora and fauna. You can take advantage of special formulas with group, semi-private and private lessons with the H2O team, who will be with you every step of the way.

Lake Cazaux and Sanguinet

With a surface area of 5600 hectares, it is the second largest lake in France. A natural freshwater lake formed some 4,000 years ago, it is now a small paradise surrounded by greenery and pine trees, ideal for starting your initation. Bordered by fine sandy beaches, it has become a haven of peace where leisure activities abound. H2O also offers courses on this lake, which is adjacent to the Biscarrosse lake.

If you’re not too keen on adrenaline, you can opt to take to the Atlantic Ocean in one of the boats provided, or opt for sailing or paddleboarding.
